We have officially wrapped up our first month as a registered business. A lot has happened since January and we wanted to take some time to reflect on the past month and what it has taught us.
Most notably, this month we started participating in the Hub Incubator Program at the University of Guelph. We are grateful to have been selected for this program late 2020. Each week we meet with mentors and other entrepreneurs to talk about successes and challenges in starting a business.
We also started working with our first client and we are thrilled to be supporting their hiring processes. We have our first contract signed and we are working hard to meet their needs! We appreciate them giving us this opportunity and we are so excited to grow from this relationship and take this time to evaluate our products and gain feedback.
We have made some great connections this month! We have had great conversations with other startups, many who are Hub alumni, to learn more about their hiring needs. We also joined a community of fellow entrepreneurs in the Kitchener-Waterloo area that have started a grassroots movement to help startups overcome common challenges.
This month, we set a goal for ourselves to get our website up and running, and start using our social media platforms, and we were able to accomplish this! We are excited to have the website as a way to start communicating with you about our services. We also started posting on our social media channels (follow us on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) and have been learning about creating content, using software like Canva. We were overwhelmed by the support of our friends and family who have also helped promote us on social media.
Next month, we are looking forward to:
- Building our products to meet the needs of our first client
- Learning more about the legal aspects of running a business from our next Hub Incubator Program session
- Connecting with more local small businesses and entrepreneurs to understand their hiring needs
Our goal for the next month is to refine our services and our pricing strategy to ensure we are meeting community needs by delivering high-quality, affordable tools and coaching for business owners.
